Two Killed Outside Sikh Temple in Covo as Police Hunt Shooter

Investigators say the attacker was a regular at the center who fled in a white car.

Overview

  • A late-night shooting outside a warehouse used as a Sikh temple in Covo left two men dead at the entrance to the site in the town’s industrial zone.
  • The victims were identified as Rajinder Singh, a former leader of the Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, and Gurmit Singh.
  • Witnesses said a man known to the community from nearby Antegnate knelt as if to pray before drawing a pistol and firing several rounds, and they described earlier disputes that have not been confirmed as a motive.
  • Carabinieri from Bergamo’s investigative unit and the Treviglio company are leading the case under the Bergamo prosecutor’s office, and autopsies were ordered in Pavia as officers search for the suspect who fled in a white car reportedly carrying at least two people.
  • Plans for the Vaisakhi celebration at the center were canceled after the attack, and community members and medics tried to save the men with CPR in the dark before both were pronounced dead.
