Overview
- A blast struck an IDF force in the Majdal Zoun area of southern Lebanon on Wednesday while troops were carrying out a mission inside a building.
- The military announced two reservists were killed and four others were seriously wounded and evacuated to hospital for treatment.
- The fallen were identified after the army cleared their names for publication as Major (Res.) Harel Birenstock, 34, of Nokdim, and Chief Master Sergeant (Res.) Tamir Vaknin, 33, of Eilat.
- The IDF said the unit was working to eliminate what it described as terrorist infrastructure inside the building when the powerful explosion occurred.
- The attack marks the first Israeli combat deaths in Lebanon since late June and could raise tensions along the Israel–Lebanon border as operations continue.
