Two Injured as Electric-Duct Fire Traps Dozens in Thane High-Rise

Officials report a coordinated evacuation of roughly 70 residents, with the cause under investigation.

  • Fire broke out at 4:14 am on the 10th floor of the 18-storey Milan Hill building in Shastri Nagar, producing heavy smoke that trapped about 60–70 people.
  • The blaze was contained within the electric duct between the 10th and 13th floors and was fully extinguished by around 5:30 am.
  • Two residents suffered burn injuries and were hospitalised: 74-year-old Ruchira Deshmukh at Jupiter Hospital and 62-year-old Vivek Pradhan at Bethany Hospital.
  • The main doors of flats 1005 and 1006 were charred, and responders included the fire brigade, TMC’s Disaster Management Cell, MSEDCL and Mahanagar Gas.
  • In a separate incident a day earlier, an electric two-wheeler battery exploded while charging in a Diva flat, causing major damage but no injuries.
