Overview
- A head-on collision on Ruta Nacional 11 at Villa Ocampo hit a Kia and an empty Fiat truck on Saturday at km 870 and left the car driver dead and four passengers injured.
- Rescuers extracted two people trapped in the Kia, a five-year-old girl is among the injured, and the truck driver walked away unhurt.
- On Ruta Nacional 7 near Ranchillos at km 1,163 a Mendoza truck attempted to overtake on a double yellow line, collided with another heavy truck, and caused side damage but no injuries.
- Peritos, firefighters, police and gendarmerie closed lanes for on-scene forensics and rescue work, reopened Ruta 11 after hours of work and set a one-lane bypass on Ruta 7 while removal operations continue.
- Authorities warned drivers to reduce speed and increase braking distance because low temperatures and snow increase stopping distances and the Ruta 7 corridor carries significant cross-border freight to Chile that can face delays.
