Two Held on Suspicion of Murder in Woolwich Shooting of 14-Year-Old

Detectives now seek witness footage to speed the inquiry.

  • Eghosa Ogbebor, 14, was shot on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich on Thursday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man on Saturday on suspicion of murder, and a 46-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender, with all three in custody.
  • Three people detained on Friday — boys aged 14 and 16 and an 18-year-old man — have been released on bail as enquiries continue under Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card.
  • Emergency crews, including London’s Air Ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team, responded within minutes, and forensic officers have since recovered bullet casings at the scene.
