Two Held After Anfield Raid Finds Suspected 'Pink Cocaine'

Officers say a targeted stop prompted by a suspected street deal led them to the stash.

Overview

  • Police observed a suspected drug deal on Ayrshire Road around 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 4 and stopped a van on Cherry Lane, finding blue tablets believed to be Class A drugs.
  • A subsequent search of an Anfield address uncovered bagged white, pink and brown powders, white rocks, eight mobile phones, cash, scales, an e-bike and an e-scooter.
  • Inspectors estimate the haul included about 2kg each of ketamine, heroin and cocaine, plus roughly 0.5kg of suspected pink cocaine.
  • A 31-year-old from West Derby and a 36-year-old from Bootle were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and possessing criminal property, and they remain in custody.
  • 'Pink cocaine'—also known as tuci or tucibi—is a colored mix that commonly contains MDMA and ketamine with other stimulants or opioids, and recent media reports have linked it to the death of singer Liam Payne.
