Overview
- A head-on crash at Mekala Thanda on Tuesday on the Khammam–Warangal highway set both trucks on fire, killed both drivers, and disrupted traffic.
- The victims were identified as James, 58, from Pallagiri in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district, and Prakash, 35, from Uttar Pradesh.
- One vehicle carried coal from Visakhapatnam toward Maharashtra, while the other hauled potatoes from Maripeda toward Khammam.
- After residents raised the alarm, Tirumalayapalem sub-inspector K. Jagadish and fire crews reached the scene, put out the blaze, and a cleaner with serious injuries was admitted to a hospital in Khammam.
