Two Dead After Officers Shoot Man During Danville Domestic Call
Indiana State Police are leading an active probe that will be sent to the Hendricks County prosecutor to decide whether charges are warranted.
Overview
- Hendricks County deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance around 1 p.m. on Monday at a home on the 600 block of Edgewood Drive and encountered a man moving in and out of the house with a rifle.
- Officers say the man pointed the rifle at deputies and officers, multiple personnel fired — investigators reported six officers discharged their weapons — and the man was struck and later pronounced dead at the scene.
- During a search of the property officers found a 52-year-old woman with traumatic injuries in a grassy area outside the home who was pronounced dead and whose cause of death remains under investigation.
- Multiple local departments assisted at the scene, no officers were injured, the officers who fired have been placed on administrative leave, and investigators found personal items burning on the property that they are still examining for relevance.
- State police will submit their findings to the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office for review, investigators have asked the public for tips, and neighbors and family members have been notified as the probe continues.
