Two Critically Injured After Cessna 150 Crashes Near Kissimmee Airport

Federal investigators are seeking public video to determine whether reported fuel exhaustion caused the crash.

Overview

  • A two-seat Cessna 150 carrying a student and a flight instructor crashed into dense woods about 1.5 miles southeast of Kissimmee Gateway Airport during practice maneuvers, according to local officials.
  • The NTSB reported the pilot transmitted that the aircraft had run out of fuel moments before the crash, a condition investigators define as fuel exhaustion rather than a mechanical fuel delivery failure.
  • Dense vegetation delayed locating the wreckage, and a pilot preparing for takeoff, Isaiah Akloo, circled for roughly 20 minutes and relayed live observations to air traffic control while sheriff’s office helicopter pilots directed ground crews.
  • Rescuers reached the scene with helicopter assistance, airlifted one occupant and transported the other by ambulance, and both were taken to hospital in critical condition.
  • The NTSB and FAA have opened a formal investigation, have released aerial and body-camera video, are using flight-tracking data in the reconstruction, and have asked the public to submit any footage or information to witness@ntsb.gov.
