Overview
- Police found a 21-year-old man with critical injuries in Central Park, Chelmsford, after emergency services were called on Friday and he was later pronounced dead; Essex Police have identified him as Radwan Shakur.
- Officers initially arrested three teenagers at an Auckland Close address and later detained a fourth person at an address in Widford Chase as enquiries progressed.
- Essex Police charged 18-year-old Romeo Mfinda and a 17-year-old boy with murder, possession with intent to supply cannabis, and possession of a knife, and both are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
- The originally arrested 18-year-old has been released on bail and the 14-year-old from the initial arrests has been released under investigation while the Serious Crime Directorate continues forensic and CCTV work.
- Detective Inspector Lydia George said investigators are not currently seeking anyone else, that there is no ongoing risk to the public, and urged anyone with information or footage to contact Essex Police quoting incident 1087 of June 12.
