Two Arrested Within Six Hours in Killing of Uppal AR Constable

Police cite a dispute over phone calls tied to a house-warming as the trigger.

Overview

  • Police identified the victim as P. Sudheer Kumar, an Armed Reserve constable and resident of the Uppal area.
  • The arrested suspects are Banothu Santosh alias Santhu, 28, a Rapido rider, and Podishetty Tarun, 22, a car driver.
  • Investigators say the suspects lured Kumar to the Chilkanagar ground around 7.30 p.m. on March 15 after recent friction.
  • According to police, Santosh stabbed Kumar during an argument, and both men chased and attacked him as he tried to flee, killing him on the spot.
  • Officers reported seizing the knife, two mobile phones, a motorcycle, and the suspects’ clothes after registering a case based on a complaint from the victim’s brother-in-law.
