Two Arrested in Stratmoor Hills Armed Robbery of Delivery Driver

A multi-agency auto-theft operation recovered the vehicle, with the sheriff pointing to the case as evidence of gaps in Colorado parole policy.

Overview

  • The robbery was reported around 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the 400 block of Sinton Avenue, where a delivery driver said he was threatened at gunpoint and dragged about 50 feet as his vehicle was taken.
  • Detectives identified the suspects as 31-year-old Dominic Ray Bryan and 26-year-old Zhane Molina after working with the State Department of Corrections Adult Parole Division.
  • On Jan. 12, a Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement operation involving EPSO, Colorado Springs Police, and Colorado State Patrol recovered the stolen vehicle and led to both arrests without incident.
  • Both suspects are being held at the El Paso County Jail on $25,000 bonds, facing charges that include aggravated robbery, second-degree motor vehicle theft, menacing, attempted vehicular assault, and reckless endangerment.
  • Bryan was on parole for a prior aggravated robbery conviction and now also faces a parole violation, as Sheriff Joseph Roybal criticized state policies he says return repeat offenders to communities.
