Two Arrested in Nagaon Doctor’s Home Invasion as Hunt for More Suspects Continues

Police say a five-person crew likely carried out the attack that left the wife critical in Guwahati.

Police said they have arrested two people in the case and are questioning them while a manhunt is underway for others believed to be involved.
Investigators believe about five attackers broke into Dr. Ranjit Saikia’s Morikolong home, looted cash and jewelry, and beat the couple with a blunt rod.
Inspector General Shivaprasad Ganjawala and Nagaon SSP Partha Pratim Das visited the scene as a forensic team collected a suspected iron bar and other physical evidence.
The couple was moved to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where Dr. Saikia is stable, his wife remains critical, and their seven-year-old son was unharmed.
The family cites a prior theft at the same house worth about Rs 27 lakh and suggests a political rivalry motive, a claim police have not confirmed.
