Overview
- The incident occurred on February 18 at Sangita Fuels near Karma Chowk in Raipur’s Urla area around 7:40 pm.
- Police say the pillion rider tried to light a cigarette during refuelling, then used a lighter to ignite the nozzle, sending flames to the motorcycle and dispenser.
- Staff quickly detached the hose, shut off the main supply and used extinguishers, preventing the fire from spreading further.
- Urla police identified the suspects from CCTV as Dharmendra (Singh/Kshatri) of Birgaon and Imran (Quraishi) of AHP Colony, and arrested both.
- A case for arson and endangering public safety has been registered, investigators seized the motorcycle and lighter, and no serious injuries have been reported.
