Two Arrested After 1-Year-Old Found Dead in Scottsville Home

Detectives are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death after reporting alleged extreme neglect and apparent physical abuse.

Authorities located an unresponsive 1-year-old at a Cottage Drive residence Monday and the child was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police arrested 22-year-old Alexandrae Price and 22-year-old Deavan (also reported as Devan) Williams and charged both with first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.
Detective Ryan Dillon says investigators found the child living in a garage and describes severe unsanitary conditions, including a cockroach infestation, rotten food, a pipe leaking feces, and cat litter covering an unknown substance.
Officials report signs of extreme physical abuse at the scene, say additional charges are expected, and are urging the public to provide information to the Allen County-Scottsville Criminal Investigation Unit.
Investigators are waiting on the State Medical Examiner’s autopsy to establish the official cause of death, a finding that will shape further charges and the legal case against the two adults.
