Two Arizona Officers Kill Armed Suspects During Domestic Calls

External agencies have taken over both investigations, a development that could increase public scrutiny of local police use of force.

Overview

  • Phoenix police say late Friday night a man armed with a knife chased another person in a driveway near Greenway Road and 48th Street, ignored commands, was shot by officers, taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead with the knife recovered at the scene.
  • Chandler officers responded Saturday morning to a domestic call near McQueen Road and Galveston Street where one officer fired multiple rounds after a man holding a shotgun did not drop the weapon; the man was identified as Jeremiah Louis Partridge, 32, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The Arizona Department of Public Safety will investigate the Phoenix shooting and the Mesa Police Department is leading the Chandler probe through the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team, with body camera footage and autopsy results still pending in both cases.
  • First responders in both incidents performed life-saving measures before medical personnel took over, and police say no officers or other community members were injured in either shooting.
  • The Phoenix case adds to local concern because data compiled by The Arizona Republic show Phoenix police have been involved in at least 11 shootings in 2026, nine of them fatal as of June 27, intensifying media and public scrutiny.
