Overview

  • The Twins pulled Byron Buxton from the lineup shortly before first pitch because of soreness in his right hip flexor after he had been set to lead off as the designated hitter.
  • Minnesota shifted Austin Martin into the leadoff spot and used Josh Bell at designated hitter, a move that followed Matt Wallner being optioned to Triple-A St. Paul earlier in the day.
  • Buxton has been one of MLB’s hottest hitters, reaching 15 home runs with 15 in a recent 26-game stretch and ranking near the top of the American League in homers.
