TWICE’s Jeongyeon Leaves JYP to Sign With Varo

Her move points to a career pivot to acting that could reshape how TWICE members manage solo careers.

Overview

  • Jeongyeon announced on Monday, Aug. 10, that she has left JYP Entertainment after 11 years and signed an exclusive contract with Varo Entertainment.
  • She posted a handwritten Instagram letter saying TWICE will remain her first priority and that she plans to pursue acting under her new agency while continuing group activities.
  • Varo’s roster includes Jeongyeon’s sister Gong Seung-yeon and actor Byeon Woo-seok, a lineup that gives Jeongyeon clearer access to scripted roles and actor-focused management.
  • Jeongyeon is the first TWICE member publicly confirmed to depart JYP, and the solo contract statuses of the other members have not been disclosed and are still developing.
  • In K-pop it is common for members to sign with different agencies for solo careers, so this move may lead to staggered management deals and new negotiations over how future TWICE schedules and solo projects are coordinated.
