TV Brasil to Premiere Afiadas, a Comedy Set in a Brasília Beauty Salon

The series uses humor and everyday conversation to make discussions about women’s lives more accessible on public television.

Overview

  • The series will premiere on TV Brasil at 23:00 on Friday, June 26, and will air weekly with simultaneous availability on YouTube and the TV Brasil Play app.
  • Afiadas mixes scripted scenes and on-camera interviews into a hybrid format narrated through Adrielly’s cellphone recordings that form a ‘diary in motion’; the first season has eight 26-minute episodes.
  • The story centers on salon owner dona Márcia, played by Heloísa Périssé, and her employees Adrielly (Pretha Sousa), Samantha (Carol Portes) and Jéssica (Verônica Debom).
  • Each episode frames a specific issue — including entrepreneurship, machismo, violence, care work, environment and political participation — and features guest women such as Daiane dos Santos, Ana Fontes and Milly Lacombe.
  • EBC president Antonia Pellegrino says the show uses sharp humor to lower barriers to public debate, and the salon setting is meant to reflect how everyday, informal spaces can surface civic and social concerns to wider audiences.
