Overview

• The brush fire, which erupted Tuesday near the 37000 block of Tusil Road in Boulevard, spread quickly and was estimated at roughly 1,000 acres.
• Cal Fire San Diego and partner agencies reported 25% containment by Wednesday morning and said fire activity moderated overnight allowing crews to strengthen lines.
• Sheriff’s deputies ordered evacuations that affected roughly 300 people and the Golden Acorn Casino opened a temporary shelter for displaced residents.
• Interstate 8 was closed or limited with a SigAlert in effect and traffic diversions in place as the blaze jumped the freeway in spots and damaged one outbuilding and one vehicle with no injuries reported.
