Overview
- A roughly two-year-old child fell an estimated two to three meters from a deck on TUI’s Mein Schiff 7 in Funchal and was taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
- The port authority APRAM confirmed the incident and said the region’s integrated emergency system was activated with an EMIR on-site assessment and an ambulance transfer.
- TUI Cruises told the industry site Hive Cruises that the child was never in a critical state, suffered no life-threatening injuries, and is with family under observation.
- Earlier reporting from the Portuguese paper Diário described the child as in critical condition and also noted the child was conscious when medics arrived with the mother and the ship’s medical team present.
- Coverage said the cause of the fall remains unknown and the ship’s schedule continued without changes.
