Overview
- The 23-member Solar Team Eindhoven publicly presented Stella Juva on Tuesday as an ambulance designed to run and operate using electricity generated from roof-mounted and fold-out panels.
- The vehicle is configured as a mobile clinic that carries an AED and a mobile X-ray so care can be delivered on-site rather than moving patients to hospitals.
- Team members say Stella Juva can achieve up to 715 kilometres on a sunny paved day but they note real-world range will depend on weather, road surface and duty cycles.
- The project was built with about 100 partners from industry, including companies from the Brainport region such as NXP and Siemens, and it is partnering with Amref Health Africa for field validation.
- Next steps are August tests in Kenya to simulate tuberculosis screening and other remote treatments and to assess operational limits, while wider production remains undecided and would require industry follow‑on for scaling and maintenance.
