Overview
- PreCheck eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent residents who must present original or certified documents, with any legal name change proven by an original or certified record.
- A single List A document—such as a valid U.S. passport (book or card), Permanent Resident Card, state Enhanced Driver’s License or Enhanced ID, or a valid reentry permit—suffices, and notarized copies are not accepted.
- Without a List A document, applicants must provide at least two List B documents, including a valid photo ID and proof of U.S. citizenship like a state-issued birth certificate, a naturalization certificate, an FS-240 consular report, or a U.S. passport expired within the past 12 months paired with a photo ID.
- For domestic flights, travelers 18 and older must show an acceptable ID, while those under 18 are exempt; unaccompanied minors eligible for PreCheck need acceptable identification, and airlines may impose additional requirements.
- TSA warns that failing to present required documentation can lead to loss of PreCheck and standard, longer screening, and it is expanding acceptance of certain digital IDs, including approved mobile driver’s licenses, Apple Digital ID, Clear ID, and Google ID Pass.
