Overview
- Boris struck the coast early Tuesday between the Guerrero and Oaxaca boundary and soon degraded to a tropical depression as it moved inland.
- Its remnant circulation and rain bands continue to produce heavy to very heavy rainfall in Guerrero, Oaxaca and other Pacific and central states, raising the risk of flash floods, river rises and rapid landslides.
- Federal and state authorities activated Plan DN-III-E and Plan Marina, deployed more than 30,000 military and emergency personnel, established interinstitutional command posts and opened hundreds of temporary shelters while suspending classes in affected coastal regions.
- Official field reports to date record mainly minor damage in 13 municipalities — urban flooding, fallen walls, roof detachments and brief power outages — and crews have cleared small landslides and reopened key road links.
- Forecasters say Boris will keep producing widespread rain over the next days and that a separate Tropical Storm Cristina has formed south of El Salvador and is a developing threat to Central America that officials will continue to monitor.
