Triumph Shrinks India ‘400’ Line to 349cc, Unveils Tracker 400 at Rs 2.46 Lakh

The downsized engines use India’s 18% tax band to cut prices and push the brand deeper into the high-volume 350cc market.

Overview

  • Triumph, which on Monday launched the India‑spec Tracker 400 at Rs 2.46 lakh, also rolled out 349cc versions across its small-capacity lineup while keeping the ‘400’ badges.
  • Prices now start at Rs 1.95 lakh ex‑showroom for the Speed T4, with revised tags for the Speed 400 (Rs 2.32 lakh), Scrambler 400 (Rs 2.59 lakh), Scrambler 400 XC (Rs 2.90 lakh) and Thruxton 400 (Rs 2.66 lakh).
  • Triumph achieved the 349cc displacement by retaining the 89 mm bore and shortening the stroke to 56.1 mm, with power tunes set at 29 hp for the Speed T4, 37 hp for Speed/Scrambler variants, and 40 hp for the Thruxton and Tracker.
  • The Tracker 400 brings flat‑track styling, a dedicated chassis, 43 mm USD forks, a rear gas monoshock, radial front caliper, dual‑channel ABS and switchable traction control, and it uses the 40 hp tune like the Thruxton.
  • Company statements cite more than 100,000 retail sales for the 400/350 range in India and an expanded network of 230‑plus outlets, which together set up the push against Royal Enfield’s core 350cc segment.
