Overview
- The operation began after a man was seen in distress about 100 metres offshore at Trigg Beach on Tuesday and then disappeared from view.
- Police said Thursday there has been no sign of the swimmer despite sweeps from Swanbourne to Sorrento using mounted officers, aircraft, marine rescue boats and surf lifesavers.
- Investigators have not found belongings on the sand or an abandoned vehicle that could identify the person.
- Officers say the swimmer is believed to be a man in his 20s or 30s with dark hair and they urge anyone who self-rescued or has information to call 131 444.
- Surf Life Saving WA warns Trigg often has large waves and strong rips, and low cloud and rain on Thursday further cut search visibility.
