Treasurer Jailed for £155,000 Theft From Long Crendon Community Groups

Police plan to use proceeds-of-crime powers to claw back funds for the village charities.

Overview

  • Charlotte Young, 45, received a three-year sentence at Amersham Crown Court on Friday after admitting two counts of theft by employee.
  • Prosecutors said she took £125,681.92 from the Long Crendon Community Social Club and £29,498.41 from the Long Crendon Village Association between 2015 and 2023 while acting as treasurer and accountant.
  • Thames Valley Police said they will seek to seize assets under proceeds-of-crime laws to return as much money as possible to the two groups.

  • She was arrested on October 19, 2023 and charged on October 21, 2025 after an investigation by the Central Fraud Unit and the Buckinghamshire Fraud Team.
