Transmission Line Falls on NH-48, Halts DelhiJaipur Traffic

Authorities cleared the live cable in two hours restoring traffic while repair crews work to fix the damaged line and affected feeders.

Overview

  • A high-voltage transmission line snapped and fell across NH-48 near Narsinghpur, stopping both DelhiJaipur carriageways and leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded in long queues.
  • The collapse produced a multi-kilometre traffic jam that stretched roughly 4–5 kilometres from Narsinghpur to the Kherki Daula toll plaza and snarled connecting roads on Saturday.
  • Police and district officials cordoned the scene, diverted vehicles onto SPR Road, Basai Road, Dwarka Expressway and other bypasses, and advised commuters to follow traffic police directions.
  • Electricity teams removed the fallen conductor from the carriageway after about two hours, and crews remain on site repairing the 66 kV transmission line while some local feeders report power outages.
  • NH-48 is a key DelhiJaipur corridor so the incident highlighted risks to commuters, disrupted emergency vehicles and showed how a single transmission failure can cascade into long road and power disruptions.
