Trainee Paramedic Found Dead After Thetford House Fire

The East of England Ambulance Service has paid tribute, offered support to colleagues, and requested privacy for the family.

Overview

  • Emergency services responded to a house fire in Sycamore Covert, Thetford, and a woman was found dead at the scene after the blaze on Saturday.
  • The deceased has been identified as Jess McKee, an emergency medical technician with EEAST who was due to qualify as a paramedic in January.
  • Norfolk Constabulary is treating the death as unexplained and not believed to be suspicious, and fire investigators have completed work that allowed the cordon to be lifted.
  • Four other people who were inside the property escaped without injury and Norfolk Fire and Rescue led the initial firefighting response.
  • EEAST chief executive Neill Moloney described McKee as a much-loved colleague, said the service is supporting staff, and confirmed routine inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.
