Overview
- Portland officially announced Monday that guard Javonte Cooke signed a two-way contract, completing the team’s three two-way slots with Sidy Cissoko and Caleb Love.
- Under the two-way rules, Cooke can appear in up to 50 NBA games and is not playoff-eligible unless converted to a standard deal, with most of his minutes expected for the Rip City Remix.
- Cooke spent four collegiate seasons at Division II programs Mars Hill and Winston-Salem State and went undrafted in 2023, a path Shams Charania notes makes him one of only two active NBA players with four full Division II years alongside Haywood Highsmith.
- The 6-foot-6 guard averaged roughly 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists last season with the Oklahoma City Blue after a prior stint with the Iowa Wolves.
- After an Exhibit 10 camp invite, Cooke appeared in three preseason games for Portland, including nine points in nine minutes at Golden State, as the Blazers also secured extensions for Shaedon Sharpe and Toumani Camara.
