Overview
- The company announced nine additional development sites this week, bringing a previously reported slate to 25 planned stores that span 14 states.
- The nine newest locations are in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Utah while 16 earlier sites include addresses in California, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Utah and Washington.
- Trader Joe’s has not released firm opening dates, store sizes, parking plans or inventory lists for any of the 25 sites, saying only that locations have been identified.
- Marketing executives Tara Miller and Matt Sloan told the chain’s podcast that site choices are guided by data such as population density, traffic patterns and parking rather than only by local enthusiasm.
- The move builds on fast recent growth — the chain now operates in 42 states and D.C. after nearly 100 new stores in 2023–24 — and could bring more access to the brand while changing local retail traffic and competition in target neighborhoods.
