TRA Panel Finds Former Deputy Head Guilty of Misconduct Over Hebburn Public Nudity

The regulator is preparing a recommendation on whether to bar Andrew Peacock from teaching, with a decision expected within three working days.

Overview

  • A Teaching Regulation Agency tribunal found four allegations proven and concluded Andrew Peacock’s conduct may bring the profession into disrepute.
  • Peacock accepted a police caution for causing harassment, alarm or distress after witnesses reported seeing him naked on Ellison Street in Hebburn.
  • Witnesses told police he then drove up and down the street, and an officer later noted a hoodie over his lap with bare legs visible when he was stopped.
  • Peacock, who did not attend the hearing, said he is a naturist, claimed he was outside for less than a minute, and denied any intent to alarm or seek sexual gratification.
  • Northern Education Trust said it immediately investigated once informed, dismissed Peacock and referred the case to the regulator, while the school told the panel it learned of his arrest via the local authority designated officer.
