Overview
- Toyota announced the global recall in early August after NHTSA flagged a software/display error that can blank the 7-inch instrument cluster at startup.
- About 655,000 Camrys are included worldwide with roughly 508,354 model-year 2025–2026 Camry Hybrids affected in the United States.
- The problem is limited to cars fitted with the smaller 7-inch combination meter (LE, SE and Nightshade trims); Camrys with the 12.3-inch cluster (XLE and XSE) are not affected.
- A blank cluster can deactivate turn signals, hazard lamps and warning buzzers such as seat-belt and key‑in‑ignition alerts, which NHTSA says can increase the risk of a crash and put the cars out of compliance with safety standards.
- Toyota will mail U.S. owner notification letters beginning Sept. 21 and instruct owners to take affected vehicles to dealers for a free instrument-cluster software update; owners can check VINs using recall numbers 26TA16/26TB16 or NHTSA recall 26V-511.
