Toyota Recalls 144,200 Lexus SUVs for Backup Camera Failure Risk

A USB power dip from a flawed charging unit can prevent the backup camera image from appearing.

Overview

  • The NHTSA-listed recall 26V162000 covers about 144,200 U.S. Lexus SUVs: 2022–2025 NX250 and NX350, 2023–2026 RX350, and 2024–2026 TX350.
  • Drivers may see a blank screen in reverse after a quick restart that happens within roughly eight seconds of shutting the vehicle off.
  • Toyota traced the issue to a USB charging port that lacks a capacitor, which can cause a brief voltage drop that stops the camera from loading.
  • Dealers will install a free software update or replace the rearview camera as needed, with owner notification letters scheduled for May 3, 2026.
  • Hybrid variants are not included, and owners of gas-only models can check recall status by entering their VIN on NHTSA’s or Lexus’ recall sites.
