Overview
- Toyota announced on May 20 that it is recalling about 44,000 model-year 2024 non-hybrid Tundra trucks in North America and Latin America for possible machining debris left in the engine.
- The debris can damage the engine's #1 main bearing, which Toyota says can lead to knocking, rough running, no-starts or sudden loss of motive power and raise the risk of a crash.
- This addition brings the multi-stage campaign to more than 250,000 trucks and SUVs when combined with prior recalls from May 2024 and November 2025.
- Toyota says engines built after the newly affected batches use an improved #1 main bearing to better resist debris, and dealers have already completed more than 77,000 repairs from the May 2024 action.
- Toyota is still finalizing the repair procedure and will notify owners in phases when fixes are ready, and it urges drivers who see symptoms to contact dealers for immediate assistance.
