Toyota Crosses ¥50 Trillion in Revenue, Forecasts Deeper Profit Drop

Tariffs plus Middle East logistics risks now drive Toyota’s earnings slide.

Overview

  • Toyota, which reported results Friday, posted record revenue of ¥50.6849 trillion for the year to March 2026 as net profit fell 19.2% to ¥3.848 trillion.
  • Global sales reached a record 10.47 million vehicles including Lexus, extending the brand group’s No. 1 ranking for a sixth straight year on strong hybrid demand in North America.
  • The company said U.S. tariffs under the Trump administration reduced operating profit by ¥1.38 trillion, leaving operating profit down 21.5% at ¥3.7662 trillion.
  • For the year ending March 2027, Toyota guides net profit to ¥3.0 trillion with revenue of ¥51 trillion and global sales of 10.50 million vehicles.
  • Management expects tensions around the Strait of Hormuz to raise raw-material costs and disrupt parts supply, trimming operating profit by ¥670 billion, and it plans to expand hybrid capacity, reorganize model lines, and adopt more robotics to lift productivity.
