TotalEnergies, Petrobras Sign Deals for Matching 42.5% Stakes in Namibia’s PEL 104 With TotalEnergies as Operator

The move positions both companies for new exploration in the Lüderitz Basin pending Namibian regulatory approval.

Overview

  • The agreements cover Block 2613 in the Lüderitz Basin, spanning roughly 11,000 square kilometers offshore Namibia.
  • Upon completion, the licence will be held by TotalEnergies (42.5% operator), Petrobras (42.5%), Namcor (10%), and Eight (5%).
  • Maravilla Oil & Gas will exit the asset, while Eight Offshore Investments will retain a minority stake.
  • Closing remains subject to customary conditions, including approvals from Namibian authorities such as the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.
  • TotalEnergies cites portfolio strengthening alongside Venus and Mopane progress, and Petrobras says the deal fits its 2026–2030 plan for diversification and reserves replenishment.
