Overview
- The provincial government confirmed the full closures start Tuesday, June 16 at 12:00 and will suspend traffic on the main carriageways in two Maipú sectors so crews can begin reconstruction.
- West→east traffic on the south carriageway will be closed between the Serpa and Cervantes bridges and diverted to the colectora sur, while east→west traffic on the north carriageway will be closed between Lamadrid and Las Margaritas and sent to the colectora norte.
- Authorities say the closures will affect about 22,000 vehicles per day and dozens of local and intercity bus lines, and they published detailed reroutes and schedules for affected lines and urged users to consult the MendoTran app.
- Work will first seal cracks, repair potholes and rebuild the pavement base before laying the first asphalt concrete layer, with the south carriageway scheduled for about 90 days and the north for about 45 days subject to change for contingencies.
- The project is financed with Fondos del Resarcimiento de la Promoción Industrial, named contractors are carrying the first segments, and officials are coordinating higher bus frequency, upgrades to alternate streets and public messages to reduce disruption while planning further stages in July and an Acceso Sur start on August 1.
