Overview
- Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu laid the foundation for a Rs 177 crore extra-high-voltage transformer plant at Toshiba’s Rudraram facility.
- Toshiba inaugurated a Rs 65 crore CRGO Core Processing Centre and a Rs 105 crore Surge Arrester Unit as part of its Rs 347 crore manufacturing push in the state.
- The CRGO plant will process 12,000 tonnes of steel annually and the Surge Arrester Unit can produce 80,000 units per year.
- The planned transformer expansion will increase Toshiba’s power transformer output from 30,000 MVA to 42,000 MVA each year.
- Telangana’s industrial output for 2024–25 is projected at Rs 2.77 lakh crore with 48 percent from manufacturing, exports at Rs 1 lakh crore in nine months and GDP growth of 8.2 percent surpassing the national average.
