Tortuga Music Festival Brings Three Days of Major Acts to Fort Lauderdale Beach

City planners rely on water taxis, rideshares, nightly A1A closures to manage the crush.

Overview

  • The festival, which opened Friday, runs through Sunday with Post Malone, Riley Green and Kenny Chesney headlining across three stages.
  • Officials expect 20,000 to 30,000 attendees per day and advise using the Water Taxi, rideshares or Brightline because there is no event parking.
  • To clear pedestrian crowds safely, A1A/Seabreeze from Harbor Drive to SE 5th Street closes nightly from 9:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., according to the city’s advisory.
  • Police and fire departments added extra crews for the weekend and urge people to hydrate, use sunscreen, verify rideshare drivers, watch their drinks and report suspicious activity.
  • Since its 2013 start, Tortuga’s partnership with the Rock the Ocean Foundation has raised more than $6 million for ocean conservation, and a prior year’s edition generated an estimated $37.7 million for the local economy.
