Toronto Police Elevate Search for Missing 14-Year-Old Esther to Priority 1

The escalation shifts the investigation to full police deployment coordinating with community volunteers to gather camera footage and tips.

Overview

  • Toronto Police have upgraded the investigation to Priority 1 and say they have dedicated every available resource to finding Esther.
  • Esther (Esti), 14, was last seen near Earl Bales Park in North York and is described as about 5-foot-2 with brown hair, wearing a green long-sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants and no shoes.
  • Hundreds of volunteers from Toronto’s Jewish community, including Shomrim Safety Patrol, are conducting door-to-door canvassing, flyer distribution and searches from a command centre at Petah Tikvah Synagogue parking lot at 20 Danby Rd.
  • Police and volunteers are asking residents to check security cameras, backyards and sheds and to report any information by calling 911, Shomrim Toronto at (647) 557-6735 or Toronto Police at 416-808-3200.
  • Esther’s family has made emotional public appeals that have kept the community engaged and investigators say immediate tips and footage could be critical to locating her so searches and camera reviews are continuing.
