Toronto Launching East–West Waterfront Water Shuttle Pilot in June

The pilot will test ridership to shape future service across the harbour.

Overview

  • The pilot, announced Tuesday by Waterfront Toronto, the City of Toronto and the Toronto Port Authority, will run from June to September under an initial three-year term.
  • York Bay Marine Services will operate the route and already manages several waterfront facilities including the Toronto Island Marina and the Yonge Street Slip’s Kiss n’ Sail.
  • Boats will link three points across the Inner Harbour: Ookwemin Minising in the Port Lands, the Yonge Street Slip downtown, and the Portland Slip by Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
  • Two new stops will be created for the trial while the Yonge Street Slip is already in use, and schedules and fares will be released before the June launch.
  • The program stems from a CPCS Sea Bus study that recommended a phased test to gather data on demand, operations and performance before any broader waterfront transit build-out.
