Toronto Constable Charged After SIU Finds Reasonable Grounds in Case Involving Minor

SIU found reasonable grounds to charge the officer, prompting Toronto Police to suspend him, initiate termination proceedings, place the case before the courts

Overview

  • The Ontario Special Investigations Unit says its director has reasonable grounds to believe Const. Parsa Hazeri committed sexual offences against a girl in Toronto between September and December 2025.
  • Hazeri was arrested at SIU headquarters, charged with multiple offences including sexual assault and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 16, and released on bail with conditions that bar contact with the alleged victim.
  • Toronto Police revoked Hazeri’s operational authorities, suspended him and Chief Myron Demkiw has started suspension-without-pay and termination proceedings under the Community Safety and Policing Act.
  • Both the SIU and Toronto Police are limiting public comment because the matter is before the courts and the criminal process will guide further public and investigative steps.
  • Hazeri is 27, was assigned to 33 Division and has three years of service, and he will return to court on a scheduled date as the case moves into pretrial and disclosure stages.
