- A motorist, Quan Curry, captured video of a tornado forming next to the interstate near I-20/59 at about 12:15 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026.
- The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning at roughly 12:17 p.m. as the storm showed rotation on radar.
- A later NWS survey rated the twister EF1 with peak winds of 95 mph, a 2.65-mile path and a maximum width of about 150 yards before it dissipated around 12:21 p.m.
- WVTM 13 crews reported a debris signature on live radar and observed downed power lines, snapped trees and minor damage to several homes including a tossed carport.
