Topps Secures Exclusive NFL Trading Card License in Multi-Year Deal

The move returns fully licensed NFL cards to Topps with a scarcity-focused launch tied to draft-week fan events.

Overview

  • Fanatics Collectibles, the NFL and the NFLPA announced Thursday a multi-year exclusive license that restores Topps as the league’s official card partner with rights to team logos, uniforms and global distribution.
  • The first release, 2025 Topps Chrome Football, arrives April 15 with pre-orders opening April 3 and will be sold on Topps.com, major retailers and hobby channels, featuring Fanatics-exclusive athletes like Tom Brady, Jayden Daniels and C.J. Stroud.
  • The set debuts two one-of-one programs that use patches worn in real games, including Rookie PREM1ERE cards with pieces from a player’s first NFL game and NFL Honors Gold Shield autographs from 2024 award winners such as Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley.
  • Topps and the NFL will run a multi-day activation at the 2026 Draft in Pittsburgh with free packs, live breaks and a Collector Celebration on April 25 at Acrisure Stadium.
  • Fanatics’ broader push in collectibles follows its 2022 purchase of Topps and new MLB and NBA rights as Panini’s antitrust lawsuit and the company’s counterclaims continue in the background.
