  • The central legal dispute concerns desincompatibilização rules that require officeholders to leave certain posts months before running for another office and were ruled by STF minister Flávio Dino to follow standard three- or six-month periods.
  • Because the TRE-RR allowed a 24-hour exception for the compressed calendar and the STF overturned that flexibility, the TSE and the Supreme Court must now resolve appeals before any proclamation can be made.
  • The supplementary vote was triggered by a TSE cassation of the 2022 winning ticket for abuse of political and economic power and a long delay in the TSE judgment compressed the calendar which complicated candidate eligibility and ballot logistics.
