Tony Steer Convicted of Racially Aggravated Assault in Antisemitic Attack

The court found the punch followed the question “Are you Jewish?”, with sentencing set for 16 April.

Overview

  • Willesden Magistrates' Court found Steer guilty on 11 March of racially aggravated assault by beating after a trial.
  • Prosecutors said Steer approached two men outside Finchley Cricket Club on 13 December 2025, asked if one was Jewish twice, then punched him in the mouth.
  • The victim, identified in court as barrister Nathaniel Bor, reported weeks of jaw pain, days of tooth pain, and a lingering inner-lip bruise.
  • Recorder Emma Greenwood rejected Steer’s account that he was intoxicated and feared harassment, ruling the attack was linked to the antisemitic question.
  • Steer remains on conditional bail ahead of 16 April sentencing, as the CPS condemned the assault and pledged robust action against hate-fuelled offences.
