Tony Iommi Announces From The Dark, His First Solo Album in 21 Years

This release shows Iommi still producing original heavy music through a collector-focused physical rollout.

Overview

  • From The Dark is due October 23, 2026, and will be released by BMG as an eight-track solo album with multiple deluxe vinyl and CD editions.
  • The lead single and cinematic video for “World Alone” premiered at a Birmingham streaming event on July 29 and frames the record in dystopian, existential terms.
  • Norwegian vocalist Jørn Lande co-wrote and sings on every new track, with Becky Baldwin on bass, Karl Brazil on drums, and Mike Exeter co-producing with Iommi.
  • Queen guitarist Brian May contributes the only guest solo on the doom-tinged track “Death Wake,” and the CD editions include two prior perfume-linked instrumentals, “Scent Of Dark” and “Deified.”
  • Pre-orders are live, a limited seven-inch of “World Alone” is due September 4, and the project is cast as a continuation of Iommi’s post-Black Sabbath creative legacy following the band’s 2025 farewell and his June 2026 MBE.
