Overview
- Tokyo Metropolitan Police announced the dismissal of a 52-year-old Ayase Police Station sergeant on Feb. 27 and issued a public apology.
- Police say he admitted taking the photos to satisfy his sexual desires and used his smartphone in station morgues while serving as a forensic investigator from 2009 to 2022 in Akabane, Joto, and Fuchu.
- Authorities identified images of about 20 female corpses, some naked, among at least 730 work-related files in his possession.
- No leak has been confirmed, and MPD sources said the images were kept at his home.
- The discovery followed his September 2025 arrest on suspicion of violating Japan’s intimate-photography law, with additional upskirt allegations since December 2022 referred to prosecutors.
