Toddler Dies After Security Guard’s Vehicle Strikes Him at Southwest Houston Apartment Complex

Police report no sign of impairment during an active investigation.

  • Police say the family was loading their car when the boy slipped from his mother and ran into the parking-lot roadway.
  • A security guard on patrol made contact with the child, stopped, and with the boy’s father called 911 and began first aid.
  • They placed the child in the guard’s vehicle to drive toward the front of the complex before Houston Fire Department crews arrived and took over care and transport.
  • HPD says the guard cooperated, showed no sign of impairment after a DWI check, and faces no charges at this time, and authorities have not released names and ask anyone with information to contact police.
